This artwork captures the deep, instinctive calm that washes over you when you stand before the sea—breathing in the salt air, letting the horizon steady your thoughts, and feeling your whole body exhale.
Created using traditional cyanotype techniques, the artwork holds the blues of the Aegean—its shifting currents, soft breakers, and the luminous shimmer dancing across the water’s surface.
At the heart of the piece stands a solitary female figure, poised at the shoreline. Almost sculptural and washed in sunlight, she seems part of the landscape itself. Her stillness captures that moment when everything else falls away and there is simply the sea, the horizon and the sound of the water.
Rocks on the horizon are picked out in hand-applied gold leaf—rich, radiant and textured against the deep cyanotype blue. Their metallic surface shifts with the light as the viewer moves, bringing warmth and luminosity to the seascape.
A meditation on solitude, strength and the quiet power of the ocean to restore a sense of calm and peace.
