Scarlet Expanse
43 x 43 cm | Alcohol ink on board, sealed with clear resin
Inspired by a Santorini sunset, Scarlet Expanse captures the moment the Aegean becomes saturated with fire. Bands of crimson, vermilion and ember-toned ink sweep across the surface, forming a vast seascape beneath the distant silhouette of volcanic mountains.
The horizon line sits low and steady, anchoring the composition while translucent layers of alcohol ink create depth and atmospheric glow. The mountains recede into softened orange light, as if dissolving into heat and distance.
The resin finish intensifies the colour, giving the sea a glass-like luminosity — reflective, expansive, and quietly powerful.
Contained within a square format, the work balances drama with control. It is a study in intensity held still — the sea at sunset, saturated with warmth and memory.
