Edge of the known

Edge of the known

"Edge of the Known" — a meditation on borders, boundaries, and the unspoken silence between land and sky.

This alcohol ink painting on Yupo paper captures the essence of a rugged coastline  with a quiet, monochrome majesty. Rendered in earthy tones of taupe, sepia, and soft ash brown, the composition evokes geological forms carved by time and tide.

The lower portion of the painting brims with weather-worn rock—marked by intricate ink veins and delicate washes that bleed into each other like natural erosion. The fractured edges and shadowy crevices offer a sense of depth and ancient weight.

Above, the sky is soft and streaked in pale grey-blue, its stillness in striking contrast to the restless, organic detail below. The horizon line feels distant and hazy, as though viewed through morning mist or windblown salt air.

The overall effect is both raw and refined—a study in nature’s architecture and the poetry of erosion.

A suggested title: "Edge of the Known" — a meditation on borders, boundaries, and the unspoken silence between land and sky.
