Where the Land Falls Quiet

Where the Land Falls Quiet

"Where the Land Falls Quiet" — capturing the peaceful threshold between cliff and ocean, between stillness and vastness.

This alcohol ink painting on Yupo paper evokes a tranquil coastal vista, rendered with elegant restraint and atmospheric depth.

A dark, rocky outcrop dominates the left side of the composition—its form fluid and organic, with soft-edged contours in rich earthy browns and charcoal greys. The ink bleeds and feathers at the edges, creating the sense of cliffs softened by wind and sea spray.

To the right, the landscape opens out into a serene sweep of pale blue ocean, its surface calm and luminous beneath a hazy, neutral-toned sky. Delicate washes of sand, taupe, and muted cream suggest early morning or twilight, when land, sea, and sky merge in a gentle tonal harmony.

This piece radiates stillness and solitude—the hush of looking out to sea from a windswept headland, where time feels suspended.
