New heart

New Heart is a luminous etching, enriched with a radiant gold-leaf background that glows like memory or sunlight. At its centre, a mother stands tall, her arms raised as she lifts her young son into the air. In one hand, she holds a heart-shaped balloon, floating just above them like the embodiment of unconditional love.

I lifted you
as if you weighed nothing—
though my whole world rose with you.
 
In one hand,
a thread of red wonder
drifted skyward,
a heart buoyed
by breath and faith.
 
The gold around us
was not sky,
but the light that love leaves
when it’s too full
to speak.
 
You laughed—
a sound I’ve kept
pressed inside my ribs
like a flower in a book.
 
And I knew,
as sure as gravity,
that you were
my new heart.
