Jurassic Rising

This powerful alcohol ink and gold leaf painting presents an abstracted interpretation of the cliffs along Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. The upper portion is richly adorned with textured gold leaf, evoking ancient rock faces kissed by sunlight.  Below this gilded edge, a dynamic flow of rust, crimson, ochre, and earthy greens cascades downward in striated, molten layers, echoing eroded sediment and geological fractures.
 
Subtle veins of lilac, blush, and pale turquoise glide through the composition like mineral seams, softening the rawness with ethereal contrast. The painting captures the grandeur and fragility of the coastline — a place where land bleeds into sea, and time is etched into stone.
