Iris Unbound
62 x 43 cm | Alcohol ink and gold leaf on board, sealed with clear resin
Inspired by the iris in full bloom, this piece captures the moment the flower begins to unfurl — when structure softens and colour moves freely across the surface.
Petal-like forms emerge through layers of deep crimson, magenta and plum, offset by flashes of botanical green and violet that echo the vibrancy found at the heart of the flower. The composition follows an instinctive rhythm, mirroring the natural asymmetry of an iris as it opens.
Gold leaf catches the light with subtle warmth, while the clear resin top coat creates a glass-like finish that enhances both depth and fluidity.
Both delicate and expressive, this is a bloom held in motion.
