Crimson Faultline

Crimson Faultline

A4  original alcohol ink artwork on Yupo paper (with mount)

This striking alcohol ink painting on Yupo paper evokes the bold drama of a sun-scorched cliffscape, where land and sky collide in rich contrast. The composition is divided into two powerful zones: a luminous expanse of soft cerulean blue in the upper third, suggesting an endless sky, and a jagged, visceral terrain of deep crimson, rust, and sienna dominating the lower portion.

The cliff-like formations feel molten and alive, as if the rock itself remembers fire. Vertical rivulets of amber and gold drip downward like mineral veins or ancient rain carved into stone. There’s a depth here—where the  bleeding ink forms echo geological time and the wild artistry of erosion.

The cool upper realm offers a moment of serenity, a visual inhale after the heat and weight below. Together, they create a powerful image of tension, transformation, and elemental memory.

This is where the earth remembers
its fractures.
Where fire once moved through stone,
leaving molten fingerprints
in crimson and clay.

A cliff face torn by time,
veined with gold and rust,
stands beneath a sky so still
it could be forgiveness.

The silence here is not peace,
but pressure—
held breath,
waiting to break
or bloom.

And yet,
between the heat and the hush,
there is beauty:
raw, unyielding,
and fiercely alive.
