Gilded Coast

Inspired by the dramatic coastline surrounding Padstow, Gilded Coast explores the meeting of ancient land and ever-changing sea.

Deep espresso and black inks form sweeping, richly textured cliffs, interrupted by luminous ribbons of hand-painted acrylic gold. These golden seams trace the contours of the landscape, suggesting hidden mineral veins and the extraordinary geological beauty of the Cornish coast.

Below, translucent layers of Laguna and Cloudy Blue create a serene expanse of turquoise water. Fine, flowing lines evoke the gentle movement of the tide, while the contrast between the rugged cliffs and tranquil sea brings both drama and stillness to the composition.

Created using alcohol inks on Yupo paper and finished with acrylic gold detailing, this original artwork celebrates the beauty of natural forms, the movement of water and the quiet majesty of the coastline.
