Château Garden, Yvoire

This artwork is inspired by a photograph I took in the medieval village of Yvoire on the shores of Lake Geneva, just beyond the celebrated Garden of the Five Senses.
What first caught my eye was not the château itself, but the graceful pine tree leaning protectively towards it. Through the cyanotype process, the tree glows against the rich Prussian blue, becoming both a frame and a guide, inviting the eye towards the hidden architecture beyond.
 
The transformation from photograph to cyanotype shifts the scene away from simple representation. The château emerges softly from the shadows, becoming less a record of a place and more a memory of one. The deep blues, luminous whites and touches of textured gold leaf create an atmosphere of quiet mystery, where light seems to linger in windows and familiar places take on an almost dreamlike quality.
 
Although rooted in a real location, Château Garden, Yvoire is ultimately about the places that stay with us long after we have left them. It celebrates those personal landmarks that become woven into our memories—not because they are famous, but because of how they made us feel.
