Under the watching trees 6
“Under the Watching Trees” evokes a sense of being seen by the landscape itself—of standing in the presence of something ancient, silent, and enduring.
At the heart of the composition, a trio of slender copper leaf trees stands tall against a brooding sky—each one etched in gleaming metallic detail, their forms stark and graceful. They rise from the left side like sentinels, glowing subtly in the half-light, their presence both protective and watchful.
The sky above is layered in sweeping strokes of charcoal, slate, and ash grey, creating a moody and dramatic canopy that evokes an impending storm or the hush of twilight. Below, a horizontal band of electric blue burns across the centre—intense and otherworldly—dividing sky from earth like a horizon of energy.
The foreground flows downward in inky blacks and cool aquas, resembling a shadowed forest floor. The ink’s fluid motion suggests movement beneath stillness
