She stands where peace begins (A4)
“She Stands Where Peace Begins” captures the deep, instinctive calm that washes over you when you stand before the sea—breathing in the salt air, letting the horizon steady your thoughts, and feeling your whole body exhale. Created using traditional cyanotype techniques, the artwork holds the deep, elemental blues of the Aegean—its shifting currents, soft breakers, and the luminous shimmer that dances across the water’s surface.
At the heart of the piece stands the solitary female figure, poised at the shoreline. She appears almost sculptural, washed in sunlight, as though she is both part of the landscape and gently breaking away from it. Her presence introduces a sense of stillness: the pause before stepping forward, the inhale before release.
Above the indigo waterline, torn gold leaf creates a glowing horizon—rich, radiant, and textured. It evokes the burnished light of Santorini’s evenings, a sky heavy with warmth and promise. The metallic sheen changes as the viewer moves, echoing the shifting moment where calm enters the body simply by looking out to sea.
A meditation on solitude, strength, and the soft power of the ocean,
