Ember Horizon
Inspired by a caldera sunset in Santorini, Ember Horizon captures the moment after the sun has slipped from view, when heat and colour remain suspended in the landscape. The caldera — a vast hollow formed by ancient fire and collapse — holds the sea and sky in a single, sweeping curve, allowing light to linger long after its source has disappeared.
Rather than depicting the sun itself, this work focuses on its afterglow: bands of molten red, ember and deep rust stretching across horizon and water.
Horizontal flows of pigment create a sense of calm and continuity, while the intensity of colour speaks to what remains after transformation — the quiet power of light held in the aftermath of fire.
