Daybed
Day Bed captures that rare feeling of complete stillness. Suspended between sea and sky, the empty day bed becomes an invitation to pause, breathe deeply and simply be.
Created using two layered photographic negatives, Day Bed brings together an empty canopied bed on Kamari Beach and a sun rising above steps descending into the sea.
Hand-applied gold leaf preserves the warmth of the sunrise within the deep cyanotype blue.
Separate moments and places become one dreamlike composition: the bed appears suspended over the waters of the Aegean, while the rising sun and its reflection draw the eye towards the horizon.
The combination of images moves the work beyond a record of either place, allowing memories to overlap in the way they often do—held together by atmosphere and feeling rather than time or geography. It evokes the experience of waking early, listening to the gentle movement of the sea and letting time slow down.
Day Bed is a quiet celebration of rest. It is a reminder that sometimes the greatest luxury is not where we are going, but allowing ourselves to stop long enough to appreciate where we already are.
