Cliff Light
62 x 43 cm
Alcohol ink and gold leaf on board, sealed with clear resin.
Light breaks through the surface as if the cliff itself has opened, revealing warmth beneath its weathered edge. Inspired by the shifting, crumbling coastline of the Jurassic Coast, this piece captures a moment where erosion becomes illumination.
Alcohol ink flows in layered veils of ochre, crimson and botanical green, forming vertical drifts and organic fractures that echo exposed strata. Above, gold leaf rests like a fractured sky, catching and reflecting light, while the resin finish seals the surface in a glass-like depth.
There is a quiet contrast between collapse and radiance — a sense that even as the land gives way, something luminous is revealed.
